Saturday of the Spruce Meadows 'Pan American' CSI5*/2*, presented by Rolex

Kent Farrington (USA) with a Win Saturday of the 'Pan American', presented by Rolex

Spruce Meadows (July 2, 2022) - The Canadian Utilities 1.50M was the feature competition Saturday of the Spruce Meadows 'Pan American' CSI2*/5*, presented by Rolex. Over 40 horse/rider combinations took on the 570 metre, 16 jumping effort track set out by FEI Course Designer Peter Grant (CAN) hoping to jump clear rounds and make it into the jump off.

Six of competitors made it through round one with no faults and proceeded to the jump off. The shortened track covered 380M and needed to be completed in 57 seconds. Kent Farrington (USA) aboard Orafina proved to be in top form laying down the fastest clear round in the jump off in a time of 44.61s.

"She's a very, very careful horse. It's why I move around between the levels here (Spruce Meadows) and let her experience the big jumps. Being here (Spruce Meadows) gives her a lot of growth." Kent Farrington (USA) on bringing horses to Spruce Meadows to develop them.

Another Win for Matthew Sampson (GBR)

For the first time this week horses and riders that had been competing in the 1.40M competitions stepped through the clock tower onto the International Ring for the Moore & Company Winning Round. The top 35 riders based on placings and points from competitions earlier in the week on the All Canada Ring qualified to challenge the course set by FEI Course Designer Peter Grant (CAN) on the International Ring. The top 10 placed riders (based on time and faults) from the first round of competition would proceed to the winning round.

There were 11 clear rounds total from round one, but only the fastest 10 made it into the Winning Round. Matthew Sampson (GBR) continuing a very successful summer tour at Spruce Meadows, was again at the top of the leaderboard posting a clear ride with a time of 51.23s.

Wins for Mexico and Great Britain Saturday on the All Canada Ring

Competition on the All Canada Ring began with the first of two 1.30M competitions, the Friends of the Meadows Jumper. Today both competitions were ran as immediate jump offs. Riders who completed their first rounds with no faults would take a short pause in the ring to collect themselves before starting their jump off ride. Jorge Canedo Vincent (MEX) had a great day picking up both first and second place with a time of 40.33s and 40.78s respectively.

The second Friends of the Meadows 1.30M competition featured over 50 horse/rider combinations looking to make it to the winner's circle. Matthew Sampson (GBR) aboard Evora BJX produced the fastest clear ride in the jump off with a time of 41.39s.
